“PRETZEL JELLO DESSERT” IS IN:

PRETZEL JELLO DESSERT 
Crust:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
1/2 cup sugar

Mix melted butter, pretzels, and 1/2 cup sugar together and press into 9x13-inch pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350°F.

Filling:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry Jello (or two 3 oz.)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries (MUST BE FROZEN)
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 (10 oz.) tub Cool Whip
1/2 cup sugar

Dissolve Jello in 2 cups boiling water and add frozen strawberries. Let gel. Combine cream cheese, Cool Whip and sugar; put on top of crumbs. When Jello is starting to set, pour over cheese layer and refrigerate until firm.

I always get rave reviews when I make this dish! Everyone loves it and wants the recipe. To answer a few questions, this is best when you use real butter with the pretzels. I never have trouble putting the mixture into the baking dish. Yes, keep the strawberries frozen, it needs to be that way to quick set the jello. I have never had trouble layering the jello mixture on top of the cream cheese. I also add a layer of whipped cream on top, just before I take it to any pot luck. Once again, delicious and EVERYONE loves this dish!!!
