BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. med. cucumbers
6 med. white onions
2 green peppers
3 cloves garlic
1/3 c. med. coarse salt
Cracked ice
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. cider vinegar

Slice cucumbers, onions and peppers into very thin slices; add garlic and salt. Cover with ice; after mixing thoroughly, let stand 3 hours. Drain, but do not rinse. Combine other ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture. Bring to a boil. Place in sterilized jars and seal. Yields 8 pints.
