ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 can coconut
1 lb. candy orange slice
1/2 c. self rising flour
3 1/2 c. plain flour
2 c. chopped nuts
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. chopped dates (or) 1 lb. chopped raisins
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs 1 at a time. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add to mixture. Roll fruit and candy in self rising flour; add to egg mixture. Fold in plain flour and nuts. Bake in loaf cake pans at 250 degrees for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Makes 2 loaves.

GLAZE:

1/2 c. orange juice
2 c. sugar

Mix well; pour over cake while warm.
