ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 lb. dates, chopped
1 lb. candied orange slices, chopped
1 can flaked coconut
2 c. pecans, chopped

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift 3 1/2 cups flour and soda together; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Dredge dates, coconut, nuts and candy with remaining flour; fold into mixture. Bake in tube pan at 250 degrees for hours and 30 minutes.

GLAZE:

1/2 lb. powdered sugar
1/2 c. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind

Combine ingredients; mix thoroughly. Pour over hot cake.
