ORANGE SLICE CAKE WITH GLAZE 
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. soft butter (2 sticks)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1 can coconut
2 c. nuts
8 oz. pitted dates
1 lb. orange slice candy, chop, mix with about 1/2 c. extra flour

Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour alternately with milk. Add chopped fruit, nuts and candy. Bake in tube pan at 250 degrees for 2 hours.

GLAZE:

1/2 c. orange juice or juice of 2 oranges
2 c. powdered sugar

Mix and pour over cake while hot. Let stand in pan overnight.
