DATE NUT CAKE ROLL 
1 c. pitted dates, snipped
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. water
1/8 tsp. salt

Combine above ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook over low heat until thick, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature. 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. flour 1 tsp. ground allspice 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

In bowl, beat eggs at high speed for 5 minutes. Gradually beat in sugar. Stir in remainder of ingredients by folding, except nuts. Add date mixture and spread in greased and floured 10 x 15 x 1 inch pan. Top with walnuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. When done, turn onto towel sprinkled with 10x sugar. Roll, starting from narrow end. When cool, unroll and spread with cream cheese filling and decorate top as desired.

CREAM CHEESE FILLING:

Beat together 6 ounces cream cheese, 4 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1 cup 10x sugar.
