DATE NUT ROLL 
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. dates
1 c. nuts, chopped

Cook sugar, syrup, and water until hard ball forms in cold water. Stir in dates and nuts; add vanilla.

Beat until cool and put on damp cloth. Roll up, cool completely, and slice.
