 Jennifer Yellin (Pennsylvania) says:
I've been eating these cookies (without the nuts) my entire life - 40 years. They are Santa's favorite too. Super easy to make. Highly recommend if you like "soft batch" style cookies. Sometimes we make Tollhouse too, but these are so much easier. Make sure to use Duncan Hines. It makes a difference.

Made these cookies for both my sons a lot about 40 years ago. I pretty much had them on hand all the time. These were their favorite cookies. However, back then I made them with the Duncan Hines DELUXE white cake mix.
