RHUBARB BREAD 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. liquid shortening
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour milk or cream
1/2 c. nuts (if desired)
1 1/2 c. raw rhubarb, cut fine (mix with some of the flour)

Mix in order and divide into two loaf pans, greased & floured. Then mix 1 tablespoon butter and 1/2 cup white sugar. Sprinkle on top of bread and bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
