CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. butter
1 3/4 to 2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
Dash salt
1 c. nuts, chopped (optional)

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Add nuts. Drop by teaspoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes. Do not overbake. Will be soft. Let set 1 minute. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
