1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 lb. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
5 c. flour
Grated lemon and orange rind is good

Cream butter; add sugar. Beat and add eggs and flavorings. Add flour; mix good and chill dough. Roll out and cut with 2 inch cookie cutter or fancy cutters. Put on greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees about 15 minutes. This makes several cookies and can be frosted with a powdered sugar frosting for Christmas. Keep in tight containers.
