HEBRON APPLE CAKE | |
1 3/4 c. sugar 1 c. Crisco shortening 3 eggs 2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped walnuts 3 diced raw apples (or canned Comstock sliced apples, not pie filling, 1 can) Cream sugar and Crisco together. Stir in eggs and mix well. Add flour and seasonings and mix well. Add chopped nuts and apples; mix well. Spread evenly in 10 x 14 inch baking pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Serves 12-16 as major dessert warm with lemon or chocolate sauce or whipped cream. Can serve twice as many as "finger" food with ice cream. This cake is good baked the day before and warmed up. Everybody likes it! |
