GERMAN CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE | |
1 (4 oz.) pkg. German sweet chocolate 2 c. granulated sugar 1 c. shortening 4 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 tsp. butter flavoring 1 c. buttermilk 3 c. sifted cake flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt Partially melt chocolate in top of double boiler over hot water. Remove and stir rapidly until thoroughly melted. Cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, flavorings, and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate until well blended. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9 inch tube pan. Bake in preheated 300 degree oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Wrap in foil when cooled. |
