GERMAN CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
1 (4 oz.) pkg. German sweet chocolate
4 eggs
2 tsp. butter flavoring
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Partially melt chocolate over hot water. Remove from heat and stir rapidly until entirely melted. Cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, flavorings, and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Add to shortening and mix well. Stir in chocolate until blended. Pour batter into a well greased 9 inch tube pan. Bake at 333 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Remove from pan. While still hot, place under tightly fitted cover until thoroughly cooled. Good with ice cream or Cool Whip.
