APPLE NUT COFFEE CAKE 
Combine in a medium bowl:

1 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

In a separate bowl:

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter (half a stick)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 apple (or use squash or other hard fruits instead)
1/2 cup sour cream (or milk)

Topping:

1/4 cup nuts (chopped almonds are a good choice)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Grease a pan or a pie plate. Peel and chop apple. Mix topping.

Combine all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients.

Combine wet with dry ingredients and pour into pan.

Sprinkle topping over bread.

Bake in oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.

This recipe is great! Eveyone I've ever served it to has absolutely loved it. The first time I made it, I didn't have any sour cream and used cream cheese instead - this worked nicely too.

Delicious, I used 3 apples with the skins on because I didn't feel like peeling them, the skins disappeared once baked. Used homemade almond milk instead of milk, next time will leave out the apples I think it will be phenomenal then. Thanks for the recipe.
