Cake Mixture: 1 stick butter 1 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup Cream together butter and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake in a 9 x 13 pan at 350°F for 30 minutes. Icing: 3/4 stick butter 2 squares bitter chocolate 1 (1 lb.) box confectioners sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 3 or 4 tsp. milk Melt butter and chocolate, add sugar, vanilla and milk. Spread on cake. | |

Quick and easy recipe. The chocolate syrup is an interesting hack, and it works! (They haven't sold canned syrup in years - just measure out 2 cups out of your modern squeeze bottle) I let the eggs and butter get to room temp for easier mixing. The cake has a nice density, almost like a brownie.
