EASIEST CHOCOLATE SCRATCH CAKE 
Cake Mixture:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup

Cream together butter and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Bake in a 9 x 13 pan at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Icing:

3/4 stick butter
2 squares bitter chocolate
1 (1 lb.) box confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 or 4 tsp. milk

Melt butter and chocolate, add sugar, vanilla and milk. Spread on cake.

Quick and easy recipe. The chocolate syrup is an interesting hack, and it works! (They haven't sold canned syrup in years - just measure out 2 cups out of your modern squeeze bottle) I let the eggs and butter get to room temp for easier mixing. The cake has a nice density, almost like a brownie.
