PAPER SACK APPLE PIE | |
1 (9") pie shell 1 1/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 6 med. apples 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. allspice 1/2 tsp. vanilla Chop apples into small pieces. Place half of apples in unbaked pie shell. Mix spices with 1/2 cup sugar. Sprinkle half of this over apples; repeat. In mixing bowl (using pastry blender) combine butter with 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 cup flour. Mix until small beads are formed. Sprinkle vanilla over this. Mix well and distribute evenly over apples. Place pie in ordinary brown grocery sack, close end and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes in 400 degree oven. |
