CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE SQUARES 
1 1/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla, baking soda & salt
1 1/2 c. flour
3 c. uncooked oatmeal (not instant)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (only use 3/4 of bag)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix flour, soda and salt together. Gradually add to batter. Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts (optional). Spread in 9"x13" pan and cook for approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Check occasionally, bars are done when brown on edges and light in middle. Cut into squares and let cool on rack individually.
