MOLASSES CRUMB PIE 
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. each: nutmeg, ginger, cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. Crisco
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 3/4 c. boiling water
Pastry for 1 pie crust

Combine flour, sugar, salt and spices. Work in Crisco. Beat molasses, egg yolk, soda and hot water together for liquid. Line pie pan with pastry. Make alternate layers of crumbs and liquid. Top with crumbs. Bake at 450 degrees until crust edge starts to brown. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake until firm, about 20 minutes. Serve with sweetened whipped cream.
