MONKEY BREAD 
1 c. Kellogg's All-Bran
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
1 c. lukewarm water
2 pkgs. dry yeast
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. salt
6 1/2 c. flour

Mix All-Bran, shortening, and 1/2 cup sugar (minus 3 tablespoons) into large bowl. Pour 1 cup boiling water over mixture. Stir until shortening is melted. Let mixture stand until lukewarm. Dissolve dry yeast in 1 cup of lukewarm water along with reserved 3 tablespoons sugar. Beat eggs well; then add salt and continue beating until mixed. Fold eggs into mixture. Then add yeast mixture. Blend well with mixer using low speed.

Gradually add 3 cups flour and beat thoroughly with mixer. Add remaining 3 1/2 cups flour by hand; turn out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth (about 1 minute). Pinch off large pieces and roll into strips and place in loaf pan that is greased. Let rise in warm place for 1 1/2 hours. Preheat oven and bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes. Then raise oven to 400 degrees and bake until golden brown (about 15 minutes). Makes 2 loaves. Also freezes well.
