GRANDPA B'S PEANUT BRITTLE | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. corn syrup 1/2 c. water 1 tsp. salt 2 c. raw peanuts 1 tsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in saucepan and bring to a boil. Add peanuts and cook until peanuts become brittle and syrup turns amber colored. Add butter and vanilla and cook slowly to 300 degrees F (use candy thermometer), stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Add baking soda. Stir well. Pour onto buttered cookie sheet. Cool a while and pull out until thin. Break into pieces. |
