GINGER SNAPS | |
3/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. molasses 1 egg 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 3 tsp. ginger Cream shortening and 1 cup of sugar well. Add molasses, egg, and salt; mix well. Add baking soda to flour along with cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Beat into shortening mixture. Blend all together well. Put in refrigerator for several hours. Take out and roll into small balls about the size of a walnut. Dip each ball in the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar. Put on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Let stand in pan to cool before removing. |
