MOM'S APPLE COBBLER 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. milk
2 c. chopped apple
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. In a medium saucepan dissolve sugar in water. In a bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Add milk. Stir with a fork until dough leaves the sides of the bowl. Turn it out on a floured board and knead smooth. Roll out in rectangle shape about 1/4 inch thick.

In a bowl mix apples, cinnamon, raisins and pecans. Spread mixture over dough. Roll up and seal edge with water. Slice roll into 16 (1/2 inch) slices. Put in butter in 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Pour sugar water around rolls. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
