MOM'S APPLE STRUDEL 
SAUCE:

1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. water

PASTRY:

1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4-5 tbsp. cold water
4 tart apples, grated
Cinnamon

SAUCE: Combine all ingredients in oblong baking dish. Heat at 400 degrees until bubbly hot.

PASTRY: Sift flour and salt, cut in shortening with pastry blender, add cold water. Chill for at least one hour. Roll into rectangle and place apples in dough. Roll as for jelly roll. Cut into 1 1/2" slices, drop into sauce. Sprinkle cinnamon over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
