BRAN-ANA BREAD 
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. All-Bran cereal
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chopped dates (optional)

Blend shortening and sugar, add egg. Beat well. Stir in bran, bananas and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add to bran mixture. Add nuts and dates, stirring until combined. Spread in well-greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
