ZUCKER KUCHEN 
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour (about)

Dissolve yeast in water and set aside for 5 minutes.

Cream together sugar and shortening. Stir in remaining ingredients, using only enough flour to make a soft dough.

Place in an oiled bowl, turning once to coat. Put in a warm, draft-free place to rise until doubled in bulk.

Punch dough down and divide into 3 (8" or 9") greased pans. Allow to rise a second time until doubled. Dot with butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden on top and baked through.
