THE ROMERO FAMILY FANCY FRENCH TOAST | |
THE BATTER: 6 eggs 1/4 c. milk 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. vanilla Whip above ingredients together in bowl suitable for dipping. PREFERRED FILLINGS: Kiwi Banana Peach Apple Pineapple Strawberries Blueberries Raspberries Blackberries Cherries Nectarines Apricot Papaya Mango THE BREAD: 1 lg. round loaf "Hawaiian Bread" (Smith's 1300 E.) Cut bread in about 1 to 1 1/2-inch thick slices, then cut in half for easier handling. Slice the cut side of the bread to allow for stuffing, but not so much as to separate the bread. Stuff with your favorite fruit or fruits, dip into batter, and cook on griddle at medium heat. Serve hot with butter and your favorite syrup. Some fruits will be sweet enough and will not require syrup. Some fruits do not do well being stuffed - just slice the bread thinner and top with say Bear Lake raspberries and whipped cream. Be creative and have a fun breakfast. |
