FAMOUS FRENCH TOAST | |
1 loaf Hawaiian bread, sliced thick (or 1 lb. other thick sliced bread or sliced English muffins) 4 eggs 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. evaporated milk, diluted 1 tbsp. vegetable oil Allow bread slices to dry slightly. Blend all other ingredients well. Before dipping each slice rapidly on both sides, stir ingredients to keep spices blended. Don't soak. Place dipped bread in heated skillet, turn when golden brown. To serve, sprinkle with powdered sugar and a dash of cinnamon. |
