DATE & NUT CAKE 
1 lb. of dates
2 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. white sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 c. chopped nuts
2 eggs, well beaten
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Pour boiling water over dates. Add soda. Let set. Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add date mixture and sifted flour and nuts. Bake in greased tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
