2 qts. of milk 2 c. shortening 6 pkgs. of yeast (6 tbsp.) 5 lbs. of flour, approximately 2 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking soda 4 tsp. baking powder 4 tbsp. sugar Scald the milk and cool to lukewarm. Add the shortening and yeast. Add enough flour to make like pancake batter. Let rise for 2 hours. Add salt, soda, baking powder, and sugar. Add enough flour to make like biscuit dough. Roll out and cut into biscuits. Place on greased pans uncovered and freeze. Place in freezer bags until ready to use. DO NOT THAW BEFORE BAKING. Place on greased baking pan and bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. NOTE: These are great because you can take out only as many as you want to use, be it one or a dozen. Serves makes about 96 biscuits. |
