PARKER'S BISCUITS | |
1 c. flour 1 c. flour 3/4 c. buttermilk 3 rounded tbsp. shortening Turn oven on to 450 degrees. Grease baking sheet. Put 1 cup flour in mixing bowl and 1 cup in another mixing bowl. Make well in both bowls of flour. Put 3/4 cup buttermilk and 3 rounded tablespoons of shortening in one bowl. Mix with fingers until all is mixed well, mashing shortening as you go. Pour dough in well of flour in the other bowl. Wash hands and then dust hands with flour. Turn dough until it is all covered with flour. Pinch off about a golf ball and a half size of dough and roll in hands. Press until about size of palm of hand. Put in greased baking sheet. Pat each biscuit on top with a pat of shortening to make brown pretty. Cook at 450 degrees until brown, about 10 minutes. Makes about 8 biscuits. NOTE: Flour left in second bowl can be sifted and used again. |
