BISCUITS

The best!

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 tbsp. shortening (or butter)
6 tbsp. milk (3/8 cup)

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Place the flours, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the milk to the center of the mixture. Stir until dough just clings together.

Knead on a floured surface. Roll or pat the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a round cookie cutter or a round cup. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 450°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

Serve with butter or cheese.
