CAPIROTADA (BREAD PUDDING) | |
2 loaves white bread 1 pkg cinnamon sticks 1 1/2 large box raisins 4 qts water 4-6 bananas (optional) 3 large apples (optional) 1 block of cheese slices 2-5 cups of sugar (depending on how sweet you want it to be) Preheat oven to 450°F. Boil the water depending on how big of a pot used. Once boiled, add the cinnamon sticks and raisins. While the raisins and cinnamon are in the water, in a glass pan, layer the bread to cover the bottom. Remove cinnamon sticks from water and stir in the sugar (add how ever much you sugar you like but don't make it too sweet). Layer the apple slices over the bread, then add a layer of the cheese slices, and then the banana slices. Now you add some water on the bread but just to where you don't see any white spots on the bread cause if you keep putting too much water the capirotada will come out watery! Add the raisins that are in the water over everything but make sure to drain all of the excess water out. Finally, repeat each layer, starting with the bread and layering all the way to the raisins until it covers the top of the pan. When done layering, cover with aluminum foil and bake oven for about 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and let it stand for at least an hour to cool and then dig in! Makes approximately 30 servings depending on size of dish. Submitted by: kassieE |
