BREAD PUDDING 
1 c. light brown sugar
4 eggs, slightly beaten
4 c. scalded milk, not boiled
2 tbsp. softened butter
10 to 12 slices dry white bread
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Beat eggs, add milk, sugar and vanilla and stir well together. Add softened butter and mix with dry bread which has been broken into small pieces or cubed.

Bake in a hot water pan for 1 hour at 350°F.
