HUNGARIAN COFFEE CAKE 
1 c. lukewarm milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. soft shortening

Crumble into mixture 1 cake yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Stir in 1 egg (or 2 egg yolks plus 1 tablespoon water). Mix in 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 cups sifted flour, adding in 2 additions.

Turn dough onto lightly floured board, cover and let stand 10 minutes. Then knead until smooth and elastic. Round up and place in greased bowl.

Cover with damp cloth and set to rise in warm place about 2 hours. Punch down, round up and let rise 45 minutes. Punch down and round on a board to rest 15 minutes. Cut in pieces and form in balls. Roll each in 1/2 cup butter then in 3/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup nuts.

Place in layers in tube pan. Let rise 45 minutes. Bake at 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn pan upside after baking. To serve, pull apart.
