1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar

Cream shortening and peanut butter; gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and brown sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Beat well.

Combine flour, soda and salt. Add to cream mixture.

Roll dough into 1 inch balls and then roll in 1/4 cup sugar; place 2 inches apart on slightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove from oven; press a chocolate kiss into the center of each.
