BOSTON BAKED BEANS | |
Need bean pot or slow cooker crock pot. Wash and clean 2 cups navy beans. Put in pot and add: 5 c. hot water 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 sm. onion, chopped 1/4 lb. cut up salt pork Mix well and bury pork in bottom of pot. Cook overnight (or 9-10 hours) when tender. Pour off liquid (saving 3/4 to 1 cup). Return to pot: Add: 1/4 c. molasses 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. dry mustard Blend and add enough bean liquid for additional 2 hours of cooking. Makes approximately 2 quarts. |
