I make it every year for Thanksgiving, I just leave out the fruit.

I've used this recipe for more than 20 years! It is by far the best recipe! Easy to double. Bring to our neighborhood picnic every year and never bring any home. I do a couple of small modifications to this recipe. I cut up the bacon into small pieces so everybody has a chance to get some of the tasty morsels and instead of golden raisins I use Craisins! What can I say, I'm from Wisconsin so I call these Great Sconnie Beans!

Love this recipe. Great for tailgates. The bowl always comes home empty. I have substituted frozen onions for slicing the single onion up.

I have used this recipe for years. But... I do chop up the bacon, leave out apple & raisins. Lol Never any left!
