1 German chocolate cake mix
1/2 c. melted butter
2/3 c. evaporated milk (divided in half)
14 oz. bag caramels
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 c. walnuts (optional)

Mix cake mix with 1/2 cup butter and 1/3 evaporated milk. Mix. Bake 1/2 of this cake mixture 6 minutes at 350 degrees.

Melt caramels then add 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Stir until smooth. Pour over baked cake. Now sprinkle chocolate chips on top and 1/2 cup of the walnuts (if chosen). Put the other 1/2 cake mix on top and the other 1/2 walnuts (if chosen) on top. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
