LORI'S OATMEAL CRISPIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. quick cooking oats
3/4 c. nuts
3/4 c. chocolate bits

Thoroughly cream shortening, sugars, add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture. Add oats and nuts mix well. Shape in rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 10 minutes. 5 dozen.
