MRS. LYON'S FAMOUS OATMEAL
CRISPIES
 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. quick oats
1 tsp. vanilla

In large mixing bowl place butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. blend well. Add flour sifted with other dry ingredients, add oatmeal then chopped nuts. Mix thoroughly. Divide dough into 2 or 3 long rolls about 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Wrap each roll in wax paper and chill or freeze until ready to bake. When ready to bake slice 1/4 inch thick and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
