PLAIN OLD FASHIONED BUTTER
COOKIES
 
3/4 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
4 to 5 c. flour
5 tbsp. sour cream, yogurt, or buttermilk
1/2 tsp. nutmeg, grated

Combine butter and sugar, stirring to make a smooth batter. Add eggs, cream, baking soda, nutmeg, and lastly the flour. Roll out the dough, cut shapes with cookie cutters, and bake at 325°F until golden.

These weren't quite what I was looking for, but they are darn good anyway. More of a tea or coffee biscuit kind of cookie, more of an adult cookie, than a super sweet kids cookie.. but that's a good thing too! Warning - this dough is VERY hard to handle if not chilled and even then it's VERY fragile.
