BAKED PORK CHOPS WITH APPLES
6 thick pork chops
1/4 c. water
6 tart apples, peel, core & slice 1" thick
Salt to taste
1/4 c. sugar

In a greased skillet brown pork chops on both sides. While chops are browning, prepare apples. Reserving pan juices, remove chops to a casserole which will accommodate chops in one layer. Sprinkle with salt. Add water to skillet, scraping sides and bottom; pour over chops. Arrange apples on top of chops; sprinkle with sugar. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour until chops are tender. Serves 6.

What a great Old Fashioned meal. I made this for the in-laws and they loved it. I made the recipe my own tweaking it slightly. Instead of water I used white wine, a few Tlbs of Hoisen sause and apple sauce. After baking I removed chops and apples and whisked in a few Tbls. of butter then poured back over chops and apples. Yummy and so tender!

I prepared this recipe it was simple and quick. I did add kosher salt and garlic powder as I brown each side.
