FRANKIE'S GELATIN COOKIE BARS 
3/4 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. flour

Work ingredients together by hand until they are smooth; put in a 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Soften 2 packages plain gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water. Boil 2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup water. Cook just 2 minutes. Add gelatin to hot syrup; beat 10 minutes with electric beater. Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and 1 teaspoon vanilla. An optional addition is 2 drops red food coloring. Spread mixture over crust; add coconut on top; set in refrigerator until firm.
