CHERRY NUT DESSERT 
Mix together:

1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts

Add:

1 beaten egg
1 c. sour pie cherries, drained

Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees 30 minutes. Serve with the following sauce:

1 1/2 c. cherry juice
1 tbsp. butter

Heat to boiling point and add 1 cup sugar mixed with two heaping tablespoons of flour. Boil until thick. Cool and pour over dessert squares. Serve with whipped cream.
