OATMEAL CAKE 
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. light brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. hot water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together: butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs. Sift and add: flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Then mix in the oatmeal (which has been cooked in the hot water). Mix at low speed or by hand. Bake for about 30 minutes in a greased 9x13 inch pan.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
3/4 c. light brown sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 c. coconut
Chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and nuts are optional

Boil for 1 minute: butter, sugar and water. Then add coconut and stir. Spread on cake and dot with chips and nuts. Put in oven for 5 minutes until chips start getting soft.
