SLOW COOKER APPLE BUTTER | |
10 lbs. cooking apples 4 c. apple cider Wash apples, but do not pare. Quarter and remove seeds. Add cider and cook slowly until soft. Put through food mill or sieve. Measure pulp. Add 1 cup sugar to each 3 cups pulp. Add to each 3 cups pulp: 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. nutmeg Put in slow cooker and cook 18 hours or until mixture is as thick and brown as desired. To can, process 10 minutes in hot water bath. Makes 6 or 7 pints. It freezes great. |
