1 c. soft shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs Mix together thoroughly. 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Sift together and stir into shortening mixture. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place on ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees (moderately hot temperature) 8 to 10 minutes. They puff up at first, but then flatten out with crinkled tops, lightly browned. Amount about 5 dozen 2 inch cookies. Fun to say, to sniff, to eat! |
