HONEY CANDIED WALNUTS 
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. honey
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. walnut halves

Boil together first 4 ingredients, stirring often to 242 degrees or firm soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Add last 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 3 cups walnut halves. Stir until creamy, then turn out on waxed paper and separate walnuts. Use a big pan. May use 3 1/2 cups walnuts, but any more will not coat well.

I substituted 1/4 cup of a sweet red table wine instead of using 1/2 cup of water. I used only 1/4 cup of water. The extra sweetness is barely noticeable, but it gives it a slightly fruity flavor to go with the walnut/honey! Delicious!
