HONEY DOUGHNUTS 
1 c. honey
2 eggs
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. sour milk
Flour to make a workable dough (about 4 c.)

Mix all ingredients in order listed. Add only enough flour to make the dough workable. Pat out on floured board to 1/2" thickness and cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry until dough is done on both sides in hot fat heated to 370 degrees. NOTE: Maple syrup may be used in place of honey.
